Our baby has a new name: Teddy G. I've been experiencing some mild spotting off and on over the past week, so my midwife had me come in just to check things out. She feels like some of it may have to do with the terrible cold I have been fighting, saying that all my coughing may have aggravated some of the tiny vessels that have developed during pregnancy. Apparently there are alot of them, so its not common for some of them to bleed. The things you learn...
Anyway, our midwife first tried to check for the baby's heartbeat through the doppler, but had a hard time since the baby is still so tiny. While she thought she might have found it, she sent me for an ultrasound, just to be sure. Let me tell you, as soon as that sonographer turned the screen around, my jaw fell to the floor. What was a tiny blob just a little over 2 weeks ago is now a baby! Immediately, we could see tiny arms and legs, dark spots where the eyes are, and a gigantic strong beating heart! Best Wednesday ever!
Craig said the baby looks alot like a Teddy Graham right now, so "Pumpkin" has a new name: Teddy G. And yes, I think it will keep changing as our baby starts to look more and more like a person. Ha! Our midwife gave us our official due date: June 13th, although the sonographer says we are measuring 2 days later. So that means we are officially at 10 weeks! I can't believe how time is flying by!
On a side note, we did alot of waiting at this appointment, because it seems the office was kind of backed up. I thought I was nervous, but Craig had more nervous energy than a 5 year old in a toy store! I think he touched every lever and button in that exam room, trying to figure out "what it did." I almost asked the nurse for a sedative...for my husband! If this baby gets that same nervous energy, the two of them might just do me in!
