In Bed with Dirk Nowitzki

Transfer number two is tomorrow. The best way to explain how I feel is - as it always is - to use a sports analogy. So, I want you to imagine Dirk Nowitzki, lying awake in his bed tonight:

He's always wanted one thing: a championship. He's been close so many times, but he's always fallen short. Statistics show that in the position the Mavs are in now, chances are slim. Of all finals series that began 1-1, the team that won game 3 eventually took home the trophy. But Dirk knows this might be his last chance. Time is running out. If he fails, he will struggle for the rest of his life to NOT be defined by this one failure, despite his many victories. It will take a long time to heal his big German heart. So what he needs is a doggone miracle!

Imagine how he would feel and you have some idea of what I'm carrying in my heart to bed tonight. I'll also be carrying a small headache, probably from the cheap tequila I put in my margarita, but that's neither here nor there. Point being, we are hoping, praying and losing sleep tonight for one thing and one thing only: a doggone miracle.
