Transfer Day

Sorry its taken us a bit to update.  We've been taking it easy, doing lots of praying, and just trying to relax and stay calm.  I've also taken advantage of the situation a bit and have sent Craig on numerous errands to fill my every need, want or craving!  I think I saw too many commercials with food items while sitting on the couch all day!

As for Transfer Day (Tuesday), all went very smoothly, minus the bladder issue.  I don't know if you remember, but our last Transfer day was a little traumatic.  I overfilled my bladder because they had told me to fill it up more than I had at the mock transfer.  So I ended up in a room all alone (Craig was not allowed in the room last time), crying in pain from the bladder spasms.  This time, I tried to make my water intake more slow.  However, I kept having to partially empty or fully empty my bladder and start over, because they were 15 minutes late in calling me back to the Transfer/surgery room.   Have you ever tried to  "partially" empty your bladder?  Not a simple task.  Otherwise, the transfer went smoothly. Craig was with me the whole time, sporting his super sexy alien suit, I might add.  He got to watch the sonogram screen as they put our 2 little embryos inside me, and they even left it on for awhile afterwards to allow us time to look at them while we prayed for them.  Our doctors and nurses could not have been more positive and thrilled at how smoothly it went, which of course is encouraging.
See what I mean? Sexy Huh?

Not the best photo.  The printer wasn't working, so we couldn't get a picture of our embryos inside like last time, so I made Craig take a photo of the monitor.  If you will look closely you will see a thin white line (my uterine lining) and then a dot in the middle (our embryos)!

 Success (We hope)!!!

The only negative part of the day was finding out that one of our embryos did not make it through the thaw.  Our plan was to thaw 2 and put both in, but one didn't make it, so they had to thaw a third.  We knew this was not uncommon, and it is likely that the embryo stopped growing right before freeze.  But Craig and I were are still sad.  Its one thing for a person not to know about their babies/fertilized embryos and to discover they are not pregnant.  Its just so different to know that they exist, but don't make it.   I just want to make it a point that we acknowledge every single one of these little "blobs" as our babies, specifically designed by God and given to us even for a short time.  So, to lose one is disappointing and sad.  But we are also very thankful for the two that He allowed us to transfer.
Here's our Embryos.  The one on the top and the one on the bottom are the two we transferred.  The one in the middle is the one we lost. :(

After the Valium kicked in!  I guess Lucy got some too!

  1. Your embryos look beautiful and I am praying for their continued growth! I must say the picture of you and your husband in the "alien suits" is actually quite cute, and I love the valium shot. Rest up and know that many of us are thinking of you guys and praying for you!

  2. I know this probably isn't the most "ideal" way to conceive your babies BUT I think it is way awesome the "connection" you have to your little embies through this whole process. I love your perspective on how each one of them is a life and not to be lost! You KNOW I am praying like a mad woman that these little embies are growing strong and healthy!! And I too love the pic in the suits and the one of you and Lucy. That dog is seriously awesome. :) JUNE IS YOUR MONTH!!! :)
